So, the other day I worked out what the hell YouTube is. Well, I think I did. It's apparently a website that you can post videos on, and, um, I'm hoping I'm right, so that I don't come across like a complete thicko. I don't really know what the kids are getting up to these days.

I was then introduced to the concept of the 'vlog.' I don't know if they pronounce it vee-log, or whether it rhymes with clog, or whether it's a bloody typo. I have even jumped on the lonelygirl15 bandwagon, which, in case you don't know (and I'm sure you do, even if it was all new news for me), involves a girl's video diary recently being exposed as scripted and staged and stuff and oh I AM SO INTRIGUED.

I have even learnt about Emmalina, and in doing so I somehow saw pictures of her putting things in her private parts. Wa-hay!

But. To move right along.

It appears that this standard text blogging business is Old News and VLOGGING is the way to go. I should get started pronto. Ideas include:
  • A vlog of me drinking beer and cramming my mouth full of chips.
  • A vlog of me belching the Australian National Anthem.
  • A vlog of me strumming my guitar and singing hippie songs, sounding not entirely unlike a cat being garrotted.
  • A vlog of me punching and pinching John.
  • A vlog of me saying, "Vlog, vlog, vlog. VLOGVLOGVLOOGGGG." Etc.
  • A vlog of Reg after he mysteriously gets his own poo all over his own beak.
  • A vlog of me rolling around on the floor, in fits of giggles, after discovering that there is a TV show called 'Simply Ming Cooking.'
  • A vlog of a vlog of a vlog of a vlog OH!
Internet stardom, HERE I COME.

(I still don't know what a 'podcast' is, though.)

Sister.. you are not alone. Podcast? Wtf is that? Yeah.. I'm data stupid.. and never heard of this vlog thing either, but really, just not interested in what ppl want to do w/ their free time. I say we stick to this and once it becomes obsolete in 10 years it'll come back and we'll be new again. Or something like that.. and probably extra funny. ;)

I vote that your first official vlog post is of you not just saying " vlog, vlog, vlog. VLOGVLOGVLOOGGGG." but of you singing it...preferably with John in a duet! Can't wait!!

I learnt recently what a pocast was...but can not say because i am probably wrong or am missing important details about what it ACTUALLY is.

Hiya, been stalkin your blog for a bit, thought I'd say g-day.
I don't understand either. I think I'm the last person in the world without an i-pod. I feel so out of the loop.

Look, if you're going to eat chips tell me in advance because I will need to install broadband,

PS: A podcast is like a cross between a telephone and a newspaper. Or a mix tape without any songs.

I jus watched all the lonelygirl15 vids so I'M WITCHA GIRLFRIEN' *snaps*

I say podcast is like a radio show that you can download and put on your iPod - or you can jus listen to it on your 'puter.

Like Enny said podcasts are audio recordings you can download to your pc or mp3 player as a audio file and play back later.

Can be radio segments or an audio blog, at my old blog we'd do podcasts as normal blog entries that you'd listen to versus reading.

It's what the kids are doing these days with the rest of the w00ting and l33t and stuff.

Just to elaborate on the Podcast thing. . . A Podcast is an mp3 file embeded (i'm sure I just spelled that wrong) into an RSS feed. It may contain whatever audio information you wish to place within.

Three I occasionally listen to are two home recording radio shows, "Project Studio Network" and "Inside Home Recording," and a compilation of highlights from an open mic night in Long Island, New York, "Accustic Long Island."

Happy Blogging!

Miss Devylish, I agree. We will be like the bellbottom pants and platform shoes of the blog world. In fashion, then out of fashion, but eventually (and briefly) back in fashion, hurrah!

Lulu, it's settled. I will set about writing the music for my first vlog, ASAP. I am predicting it will be a bit Britney, with a hippie chick taint. I will make John wear my beanie with the dangly bits on it and stand in the background, swaying.

Mushroom - kids these days, don't they know anything? I am waiting for somebody to test me on my incredible YouTube knowledge, because I have watched at least ten videos now and I am totally up to speed with the whole thing. Cough.

Hello odly amore! I will admit that I do have an iPod, though how that relates to a podcast I have NO idea. I apparently made a huge mistake with my iPod by immediately shunning the the little white earplugs, which are actually a secret code way of saying to other iPod users, 'YES, I have an iPod too! We are part of an elite group of white ear-plugged gits.'

Ah, thank you, Mark. I knew you'd be able to clear this whole thing up perfectly. I don't really think you'll see my chip-stuffed mug on YouTube any time in the very near future. But I sincerely promise I will let you know before I decide to take that step.

Steph, damn straight. I'm fine with my typewriters and spinning wheels and making my own clothes out of curtains. I'm going to go and join the Amish.

Enny, I'm checking that girl's YouTube as frequently as I check blogs. Yeah, it's not real, but I've been completely deprived of teen drama since the demise of Dawson's Creek. I'm holding out for the 'I just lost my v's to Daniel!' video.

Lucy, ah HAH. So it's like an mp3? But not of a song? Is that right? Crazy kids are always giving things fancy names. And where is this old blog with Lucy podcasts?

Susanne, of course! Partial nudity - the secret to internet success. Emmalina has taught me that even a skimpy boobs-and-arse flashing dress will suffice. I'll be bigger than Paris Hilton.

Ah, thank you, Abe. That clears it up, but does unfortunately force me to now try and work out what on earth an RSS feed is...

in2deep, I'm too frightened to search for an RSS feed, because I'm pretty certain it'll confuse the hell out of me. I know it's got something to do with blogging, and that people can subscribe to it. Um. I like all the easy bits of computers the best.
